"Tisch School of the Arts takes full advantage of its location in New York City. Our campus stretches from Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village to studios in Manhattan and over to Brooklyn.
The main Tisch building at 721 Broadway is home to many of our creative and academic departments. Other locations include 111 Second Avenue (the school's original home) and 113 Second Avenue in the East Village, 665 Broadway, 194 Mercer Street, and 2 Metrotech Center in Brooklyn.
Spend time in any of these buildings, and you’ll find that while you’re surrounded by people who share your interest in a given discipline, you’re just a floor away from potential collaborators offering an entirely new perspective.

Explore our academic and studio spaces with this virtual tour of our buildings. You can navigate by choosing a location below and begin wandering through floors and departments. "

College basketball: How good does your defense have to be to win a national title?

"UCLA is 23-3, has one of the best players in America in Lonzo Ball, and boasts the best offense the sport has seen in the past 15 years. Based on everything the Bruins have going for them, they should be a legitimate national title contender.

They still might be, but there are two sides of the court. The Bruins rank 129th in the country in adjusted defensive efficiency, and if history holds up, that will prevent them from winning a national championship.

To be clear: UCLA can still win the title even if it doesn’t improve its defense – though it’s unlikely. The Bruins’ offense is that lethal. But Steve Alford’s squad would increase its margin for error if it merely became decent in stopping foes. As it stands, a cold perimeter shooting night would likely mean an early NCAA tournament exit.
Since 2002, here is every national champion and their final adjusted defensive efficiency ranking. The teams are listed from best to worst:

So, yeah, that table is bad news if you’re a UCLA fan. The good news: the 2016-17 Bruins have a better offense than any of the past 15 national champions; its 124.5 offensive rating edges out 2014-15 Duke, which posted a 122.5 mark. So while the worst defensive team on this list was more than 100 spots better than UCLA is this season, it doesn’t have as much ground to make up as the table may suggest. Still, improvement is likely needed.

2014-15 Duke is the blueprint. The Blue Devils struggled defensively all season long two years ago, but once the tournament started, Duke shifted Justise Winslow to power forward. From there, everything changed – the Blue Devils surrendered 56.3 points per game in the NCAA tournament, well below their season average.

"You should apply for admission between April of your junior year in high school and January of your senior year in high school. The earlier you apply the better. If you would like deadline reminders, admissions information, or to ask questions about the admissions process, please "like" our Naval Academy Admissions Facebook page!

Basic Requirements for Eligibility:
  • United States citizen:
  • Good moral character;
  • At least 17 and not past their 23rd birthday on 1 July of the year they would enter the academy;
  • Unmarried;
  • Not pregnant; and
  • No dependents.
If you meet all of the above requirements, please continue to Step 3: Preliminary Application.
If you are in high school but not old enough to apply, you may register with USNA. Once entered into the database, you will be forwarded information on the Naval Academy Summer Seminar during the winter of your junior year and be able to apply online during February and March. This application will also serve as a preliminary application to the Naval Academy.

Preliminary Application:
A preliminary application must be submitted to become an official candidate for next year's entering class. If you have applied for our Summer Seminar program, please do not submit a preliminary application, as these two applications are the same.
After being designated as an official candidate for admission, all applicants will be notified by mail, typically in June before your senior year. Within your candidate letter will be important instructions on how to proceed with the application process.
The preliminary application form is for students who will be seniors next year, or for students who are current seniors or in college.
If you are not at least a junior in high school, you are too young to apply for this class and should register with USNA as a contact unless you have already done so.
If you experience difficulty getting to the application, it may be a compatibility issue with your computer. Past experience has indicated that compatibility issues may be minimized by using a PC (not a MAC) and Internet Explorer as your web browser.Please ensure you have the following information on hand when completing the preliminary application. If you do not have this information we cannot properly process your application. Links are provided to help you look up some of the information.
  1. High School Educational Testing Service (ETS) Code.
  2. Rank in your High School Class. Also from your Guidance Office. If your school does not rank, please estimate.
  3. Congressional State and District (where you or your family votes).
  4. Zip code + 4.
  5. Your SAT, ACT, or PSAT scores."
